Museum of everyday objects
Mohamed V, Tunis
Architecture workshop exercise in 3rd year at ENAU
2017
Project of the workshop
Summary:
It is a museum which exhibits everyday objects of human life. These are concrete boxes embedded in a double structure dedicated to the exhibition of objects. The exhibition is organized chronologically from prehistoric times to the present day.
Extérieur
This project is the architectural transcription of an American film "Divergente". The film rhythm is the most interesting for this project. We interpreted the acceleration and the slowing down of the scenes by the temporal route of the museum managed by ramps. These ramps are installed in the double structure to bring back to rest platforms which are the encrusted volumes.
The project has great visibility in the heart of the city. Its bold image combines light and heavy; transparency and opacity.
The Project was designed in two phases:
PHASE 1: APS
Pair work
It is an exercise in interpretation and analysis whose objectives are to show the multidisciplinarity between art, architecture. We started with the film analysis in order to extract its essence. We finally learned 3 major concepts:
- Duality
Transparent / Opaque
Rabid / Slow
Light heavy
- The framing of view
Staging of the city
- The course
The ramps
PHASE 2: Structural seminar
Group work (6 people)
This is a project execution exercise in order to find structural solutions for this project, to prepare execution details and to show again the multidisciplinarity between art, architecture and science (materials, Resistance , construction, frame). This exercise is an initiation to the APD and Project Execution file (3rd year architecture level)
